Tidepool Tim says, “Holdfasts are a little slice of marine ecology. You get a nice cross-section of a community in action. Each one is unique containing molluscs, worms, bryozoa, sponges, hydroids, and other types of algae besides the kelp species. We grow these on our own mooring lines and then have them available for study year round.”
