Live Sea Raven (Hemitripterus spp.)
Please Note This Is A Live Science Specimen

The Sea Raven (Hemitripterus spp.) is a striking, bottom-dwelling fish found throughout inshore and offshore waters of the Gulf of Maine. Recognized for its broad, spiny head and warty, textured body, the Sea Raven displays an impressive range of colors — from red and purple to mottled browns and yellows — allowing it to blend seamlessly into rocky or muddy sea floors.

This hardy species is part of the sculpin family and is well-adapted to cold northern waters. Its ability to inflate its body when threatened and its unusual appearance make it a fascinating addition to educational aquaria and marine biology research collections.
